Sources

Supported source definitions and Safe Mode coverage.

The catalog describes public profile patterns that can be checked by the username search service. Safe Mode hides sensitive-category sources from default public views.

Default visible definitions

500 public source definitions are shown by default from a 525-definition catalog.

Visible categories

33 categories are visible by default. The full catalog contains 34 categories.

Safe Mode

25 sensitive-category definitions are hidden from this default public list and default search result views.

Default visible category summary

Counts exclude sensitive-category definitions hidden by Safe Mode. Public platforms can change, so the catalog is a starting point for review.

Sample visible source definitions

This sample is intentionally limited and excludes sensitive-category sources. The page explains coverage instead of creating a thin directory for every platform.

How to interpret coverage

Coverage is broad but uneven, and that is by design. The largest categories are the ones where public profile patterns are predictable and where handle reuse is most common. Online communities make up the biggest visible share of the catalog, followed by gaming and technology platforms, then marketplaces, hobby sites, music, image hosts, and developer tools. Smaller visible categories such as finance and travel have only a few definitions each, so a quiet result there says less than a quiet result in a well-covered category.

Read coverage as a hint about confidence, not a promise. A handle that appears across several well-covered categories paints a richer picture than one that surfaces on a single niche site. Either way, a source definition only means the tool knows a public pattern to check. It does not mean the platform provides data to WhatsMyName, endorses the site, or vouches for accuracy. Third-party names appear solely to identify public sources and remain the property of their owners. Safe Mode hides sensitive-category sources from the default public catalog view.

Public platforms also change without notice. When a result matters, open the public URL and confirm it with your own eyes. If a platform looks unavailable or returns the wrong result, let us know the source name and what you observed so we can review it.

Frequently asked questions

What is a source definition?

It is a small recipe for checking one platform: the public profile URL pattern, a category, and signals that distinguish a real profile from a missing one. It does not mean the platform provides data to us or endorses the site.

Why is one category much larger than another?

Coverage follows where public profile patterns are predictable and useful. Online communities, gaming, and technology sites are well represented, while some niches have only a handful of definitions.

What if a platform I expected is missing or wrong?

Platforms change their URL patterns and availability often. If a source looks missing or returns the wrong result, open the public page to confirm, then contact us with the source name and what you observed.
